A Falcon 9 rocket carried the 60 flat-packed satellites, after it lifted off from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station at 0230 GMT Friday. The Starlink project, which is being developed since 2015, is created to provide reliable and fast access to the Internet anywhere in the world.

Falcon 9 launches 60 Starlink satellites to orbit. Traditional satellite internet suffers from extreme latency of a second or more, but Starlink will feature more than 7,500 in very-low-earth orbit (VLEO) to reduce latency on the ground.

An initial attempt to launch the Starlink satellites on May 15 was called off due to high winds aloft. According to SpaceX's VP Mark Juncosa, around 12 launches of Starlink will give it complete coverage of United while 24 will help to cover most of the world's population while 30 launches will be enough for it to cover the entire planet.

United States to send 1500 more troops to Middle East amid Iran threat
Earlier on Friday, President Trump told reporters outside the White House that a "relatively small" deployment had been approved. The Trump administration is sending more troops and weapons to the Middle East amidst rising tensions with Iran .

SpaceX ultimately wants Starlink to grow to include potentially thousands of satellites over the next few years.

The satellites will then use onboard propulsion to reach an operational altitude of 550 km.

Elon Musks's Space X, the private aerospace company, has launched 60 small satellites into orbit today, marking a major step for the billionaire entrepreneur's space-based internet system Starlink.

Matthijs de Ligt's Salary Demand put Barcelona Move on Verge of Collapse
United have now offered him £12.3million-a-year, in an attempt to gazump the queue of top European clubs chasing the 19-year-old. And former Ajax manager Peter Bosz believes Man City should "immediately" sign De Ligt to partner Aymeric Laporte.

As the images from the landmark launch started pouring in, loyal followers of the SpaceX boss took to Twitter to share their thoughts. The company has plans to deploy almost 12,000 satellites in three orbital shells by the mid-2020s, with each satellite weighing about 500 pounds (227 kilograms), making this the heaviest payload ever flown on a Falcon 9. If he and his company can deliver on this, it will be relatively smooth sailing towards deploying the Phase II constellation (2200 satellites) by November of 2027.

We're about 10 minutes away from the deployment of the Starlink satellite payload.

The launch will make it an early forerunner, along with rival OneWeb, a startup, but well ahead of Amazon's Project Kuiper, the brainchild of Musk's space rival Jeff Bezos.
