Confirming a recent report from our sister site Variety, Gayle King opened Monday's broadcast by announcing the imminent departures of her co-anchors, Norah O'Donnell and John Dickerson. She will instead welcome CBS This Morning: Saturday co-host Anthony Mason and CBS Sunday Morning contributor Tony Dokoupil.
Norah O'Donnell was named the new anchor and Managing Editor of CBS Evening News, which is a step in the later-day direction for the Emmy-winning journalist. This fall, the broadcast will also shift locations from NY to Washington, D.C. Jeff Glor, the current anchor, may find a new role at CBS. She will be the third solo female anchor of an evening newscast following ABC's Diane Sawyer and Katie Couric who hosted CBS Evening News from 2006 to 2011.
As expected, Gayle King secured the bag after upgrading her contract at "CBS This Morning" with an $11 million-a-year deal surpassing her previous $5 million dollar contract, Page Six has learned.
