The worldwide Contact Group on Venezuela, which met in Costa Rica on Tuesday, announced it would send a high-level mission to the crisis-racked country to monitor humanitarian aid distribution and encourage talks.

After his failed attempt to overthrown Maduro, Guaido welcomed the discussions of military options in the USA, calling them "great news", as he spoke to The Washington Post. "But then we see the way Maduro has been dealing with the situation, and we don't feel scared anymore".

Russian Federation has had deep military cooperation with Venezuela over the years, including supplying weapons and aircraft.

Without using such antagonistic language, Guaido said there could be a case to seek "foreign co-operation to overcome the unprecedented crisis Venezuela is going through".

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obador also said that his country will adhere to its constitution and the principles of non-intervention, self-determination of the people and peaceful settlement. Last week, Guaido once again failed to persuade military officials to join him against Maduro, and fewer people joined him in his rallies.

For now, it's offering aid and ramping up diplomatic pressure.
