In the in-between years, Disney has four new Avatar films on the slate that will debut every other year on the pre-Christmas weekend starting in 2021.

"Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" will not be the war to end all "Wars". That means don't expect to hear that one of these movies will be the Boba Fett movie James Mangold was working on.

A few other fun nuggets from the release: Emma Stone's Cruella got a December 2020 release date; the graphic novel/web comic Nimona is getting a feature film in 2021; and the next Indiana Jones movie comes out in July 2021, when Harrison Ford will be almost 80 years old. It has come as a huge shock for the fans as Disney cut Avatar from its line ups of the year 2020.

- Following the recent acquisition of the 21st Century Fox film studios, Walt Disney has unveiled its upcoming film release schedule through 2027, which includes "Star Wars", "Avatar" and Marvel franchise movies.

The next installment - following The Rise Of Skywalker this December - is due in December 2022. The previously Fox-owned Avatar 2, 3, 4 and even 5 will be released in theatres on every alternating year: 2021, 2023, 2025 and 2027 respectively.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set for release on December 20, 2019. "With a strong summer already in place, we are eager to carry that momentum forward over the coming years thanks to a creative wellspring of bold and imaginative stories coming from our world-class studios - including several new chapters of two revered franchises, "Avatar" and 'Star Wars'". Our best guess of what these movies could be is that they are Rian Johnson's new trilogy in the Star Wars saga.

Hey Disney, maybe we should make like Ross and Rachel and take a break (but three years may not be long enough).

"Avatar" remains the top-grossing film of all time, with $2.79 billion in worldwide box office sales, but superhero extravaganza "Avengers: Endgame" is hot on its heels at $2.24 billion and rapidly climbing.

Pixar isn't going anywhere, either, with four untitled projects scheduled between 2020-2022 (and none slated for release dates after that). The real question is who will be bringing us this movie content?
