What happened: US-based electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla said it is investigating an incident in which one of its vehicles caught fire in a Shanghai parking garage.

As Motherboard points out, there were at least 40 fire-related incidents involving "new-energy" vehicles reported in 2018. The video, apparently taken from a surveillance camera, shows a Tesla Model S parked along a line of cars when smoke begins to billow out from underneath, then catching fire immediately after.

CCTV footage of the incident, which has been circulating since Monday, shows a white Tesla Model S sitting in an enclosed carpark. We are actively liasing with the relevant departments and cooperating with the verification of the situation.

Fortunately, there were no casualties, according to the official Weibo account of the carmaker.

Samsung Officially Delays Launch of Galaxy Fold Smartphone
Samsung is the world's biggest smartphone maker, and earlier this month launched the 5G version of its top-end Galaxy S10 device. There was also an instance where substances found inside the device affected the display performance.

The new Model S can now get 370 miles on a single charge, while the Model X steps up to 325 miles thanks to an all-new drivetrain design. In the video, you can see smoke puffing out from behind both front wings of the vehicle.

Charging will also be bumped up to 200 kW on V3 Superchargers and 145 kW on V2 Superchargers, which means cars will charge faster on the network.

"In addition to adding range, power and torque increases significantly across all Model S and Model X variants, improving 0-60 miles per hour times for our Long Range and Standard Range models", notes Tesla in its blog post.

Tesla says it immediately sent a team to investigate an apparent explosion of one of its cars that occurred in Shanghai on Sunday evening local time.

Mr Biden is one of the favourites to become the Democrat nominee for president and take on Trump in next year's election. In retrospect, he said, he should have held a hearing "where the tone and questioning was not hostile".

"We remain encouraged by Tesla's vision and future growth prospects, but there is increased uncertainty around near-term demand versus previous bullish forecasts and growth can not stall for a growth company", Evercore analysts wrote in their note downgrading the shares.

"Tesla had fire incidents before, but they didn't have a big impact on its reputation in China", said analyst Alan Kang at LMC Automotive.

The French fire was caused by an improperly tightened electrical connection, Tesla said.
