Magic Johnson Steps Down as Lakers President

The Los Angeles Lakers have always been a team that's surrounded in controversy, but what went down Tuesday night shocked nearly everybody.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports that the Lakers coaching staff expected to be fired in the hours after the teams final game of the season and had believed that they were on the way out for months.

Johnson, an NBA Hall of Famer, became a much maligned figure in New Orleans thanks to the trade discussions surrounding Pelicans star player Anthony Davis. "He needs more time", Stoudemire said. I've got a attractive life. "That's not who I am.' And then I don't want to put her in the middle of us, even though she said, 'Hey, you can do what you want to do.' I know she has great love for him and great love for me".

Johnson took the job in February 2017, as general manager Mitch Kupchak was sacked and Jim Buss was removed as executive vice president of basketball operations.

Last month , Trump also recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, an area Israel captured from Syria in 1967. Settlements built on land occupied by Israel in the 1967 war are illegal under worldwide law and are a barrier to peace.

LeBron James has defended Luke Walton's record amid ongoing speculation concerning the Los Angeles Lakers coach's future with the franchise.

With the way the Lakers' first season with LeBron James hobbled toward the finish line like a wounded gazelle, you nearly had to laugh as Johnson took center stage from Dwyane Wade and Dirk Nowitzki - both playing in the final home games of their career on Tuesday night - to abruptly resign from his post, unbeknownst to owner Jeanie Buss and general manager Rob Pelinka, then spout off bewildering one-liners like, "I'm a free bird and I've been handcuffed", and, "if we were not [moving in the right direction as a franchise], I'd probably be staying".

"I [couldn't] do that [as the Lakers president]", Johnson told reporters. He stated that he is a "free bird" now that he is leaving his position but declined to comment on the futures of Walton and general manager Rob Pelinka.

"I'm happy with what we did in two years".

Trump slaps 'terror' label on Iranian forces
The move would be the first such designation by any USA administration of an entire foreign government entity. Critics had warned that such a move could leave USA troops in the region more vulnerable as a result.

"We had a defensive rating of fourth in the National Basketball Association, and we were like seventh in offense when we played together over 23 games", James said.

Obviously, James was mostly quiet on the subject for most of the season as he tried to lead the Lakers to the postseason.

The Los Angeles Lakers made free agency's biggest splash this offseason, signing the league's best player, LeBron James, away from his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers.

Johnson remained publicly supportive of Walton, but Magic was widely thought to agree with Walton's detractors who aren't impressed by the former Lakers forward's offensive game planning and rotations.

Homeland Security Director Kirstjen Nielsen Resigns
He said in a statement, however, that she should not serve as a scapegoat, blasting Trump for "terrible and cruel policies". Nielsen took over the position in December 2017 after John Kelly left the post to become the president's chief of staff .

One of the most shocking pieces of information to come out of those interviews is that Lakers owner Jeanie Buss did not know Johnson was going to resign on Tuesday.
