'Avengers: Endgame' shatters box office records

Disney and Marvel's mega-blockbuster "Avengers: Endgame" dominated North American box office with a massive 350 million USA dollars in its opening weekend, shattering the previous record.

Endgame also became the fastest movie to tip over the United States dollars $1 billion mark. Nearly everyone felt that the records attained by the film will remain unchallenged/unsurpassable for a long time but Avengers: "Endgame is challenging it right now".

The movie had been forecast to open between 260 million and 300 million dollars (£202-230m) in U.S. and Canadian cinemas, but moviegoers turned out in such droves that Endgame blew past the previous record of 257.7 million (£198m), set a year ago by Avengers: Infinity War. The film released on 2845 screens in India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Endgame got the widest release of all time, opening in 4,662 North American theaters.
