This as the Army Corps of Engineers continued to release water at Gavins Point while areas along the Missouri River in Iowa and Nebraska endure historic flooding. The river is projected to reach 47.1 feet this weekend before it begins to go down. Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts also issued an emergency declaration after rivers swollen by rain and dam breaches left many bridges and roads impassable and triggered the evacuation of thousands of residents.

Officials in western Iowa and eastern Nebraska were urging people not to drive unless necessary.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood emergency for a number of towns in eastern Nebraska, including Ashland, Yutan, and Schuyler, as the Platte River is expected to rise 4-5 feet. The mayor of Columbus also told the affiliate stations that person was a farmer on a tractor out to rescue someone from the flood waters.

Speed River (City of Cambridge): Flood coordinators in the City of Cambridge are advised to monitor and prepare to close Blackbridge Road at the Speed River on Friday.

The restrictions come as the river reached moderate flood stage at almost 32 feet on Friday at Omaha, where it's expected to crest at almost 34 feet on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
