A new one-off Chiron-based Bugatti inspired by the company's iconic Type 57 Atlantic may have just wrested away the title of the world's most expensive new Auto. The one-of-a-kind "hypercar" was built to mark the French automaker's 110th anniversary. The 8-litre 16-cylinder engine develops 1479 bhp and 1600 Nm of peak torque.
While the firm refers to the buyer only as an "enthusiast", rumours abound that former chairman of Bugatti's parent company Volkswagen, Ferdinand Piech, is the lucky new owner. That makes La Voiture Noire the most expensive new auto ever sold. It is based on Chiron, but comes with a lot of custom work, on the inside as well as outside. The vehicle is still quintessentially Bugatti, with a front end that's closer to the aerodynamic Divo than the O.G. Chiron on which it's based.

And, according to The Verge, it will take another 30 months for the La Voiture Noire to be completed, so we'll only get to listen to its 1,500 horsepower roar in 2022.
Bugatti president Stephan Winkelmann said the La Voiture Noire - The Black Car - combined "extraordinary technology, aesthetics and extreme luxury". The material has been handled perfectly, says Bugatti designer Etienne Salome, adding that the design was worked upon until nothing could be improved.
Tiger Woods plays down back injury fears after Arnold Palmer Invitational withdrawal
Woods said he's had the strain for a few weeks (he played in the WGC-Mexico Championship two weeks ago, for what it's worth). Woods finished tied for second at the Valspar past year , and it seems as if he would come back if he could.
Bugatti brought the big guns to the Geneva Motor Show this time. The one-of-a-kind creation was handcrafted for a collector who probably identifies with the motto of company founder Ettore Bugatti: "If it is comparable, it is no longer Bugatti".
It's certainly huge, the engine bay dominating much of the car's footprint when viewed from overhead. There is - intended or not - a hint of Darth Vader providing some inspiration: "The windscreen seems to flow seamlessly into the windows at the sides like the visor on a helmet", Bugatti said.
