Bryce Harper signs 13-year deal with Philadelphia Phillies

A report broke Thursday that the Dodgers still had intentions to sign Harper, but that they were still only looking to link a short-term deal with the superstar free agent.

Harper gets a $20 million signing bonus in equal installments this June 1 and November 1, a $10 million salary this year, $26 million in each of the following nine seasons and $22 million in each of the last three years. ESPN's Jeff Passan reports the deal includes a no-trade clause, meaning, if Harper wants to, he could play in Philadelphia the rest of his career. The 26-year-old has made the All-Star team six times.

After becoming the sixth and final team to secure an in-person meeting with the outfielder and agent Scott Boras, San Francisco is one of just three suitors that have a real chance to sign MLB's top free agent.

He gave no specific reasons for his decision, but cited an "inability to continue serving". "Be happy and worthy", he added. Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif speaks to the media in Tbilisi, Georgia, April 18, 2017.

Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser thanked Harper in a Twitter post, but added: "It was a good 7 years, But in 33 days When we play the Phillies, Beating you will be nice".

An up-and-down defender and an unusual mix of popular and polarizing, Harper is known for the occasional contretemps with opponents, one particular exchange with a reporter about a "clown question", and, most infamously, a dugout dustup in which he was choked by then-teammate Jonathan Papelbon during a game.

The Nationals, with whom Harper spent his first seven years, will get a 2019 supplemental first-round pick as a result of losing Harper. He led the majors with 130 walks last season and hit the 100-RBI mark for the first time in his career.

Pakistan suspends all incoming and outgoing local and global flights
It said two flights, WY324 KHI MCT and EK601 KHI DXB, departed after the partial restoration of flight operations. "North East & North Western airspace remains closed until further notice".

Harper's numbers were down slightly in 2018. Harper hit 34 home runs last season and finished ninth in on-base percentage. Lee battled injuries in his last few years and didn't even pitch in 2015, the last season of his contract.

A year after going 82-80 and missing the playoffs under rookie manager Dave Martinez, the Nationals will move forward without Harper. Five teams now have a higher payroll than the Giants, who are well below the $206 million luxury tax threshold.

It's true that teams have generally shied away.

By Wednesday evening, the ministry acknowledged the pilot was in Pakistan's custody and demanded "his immediate and safe return". The US, along with China, Britain, Germany and the European Union, have called for cooler heads to prevail.
