Biegun is staying in Pyongyang to discuss with North Korean officials summit arrangements and the country's denuclearization.

On Friday evening Washington time, he tweeted that they would meet in Hanoi for "advancing the cause of peace".

Additionally, U.S. intelligence heads don't believe complete denuclearization is a likely outcome for North Korea. After years of criticism over its human rights record and its development of nuclear weapons, Kim has gained global legitimacy with his outreach to Trump and the South Korean government.

The choice of Vietnam is symbolic and shows that politics like a river is never still.

Kim Jong Un had relied on his younger sister Kim Yo Jong regarding matters such as relations between North Korea and the United States.

North Korea has yet to provide any official confirmation of the Hanoi summit.

What preparations are being made?

Biegun said Kim Jong Un committed during an October visit by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to the dismantling and destruction of plutonium and uranium enrichment facilities and that "corresponding measures" demanded by North Korea would be the subject of his talks.

They will meet again closer to the summit.

"We have some hard work to do with the DPRK between now and then", Biegun said in South Korea before a meeting with its foreign minister, Kang Kyung-wha. As he prepares to meet again North Korea's Kim Jong Un, President Donald Trump is replaying numerous same moves, with a suspenseful buildup, make-or-break stakes and dramatic rendezvous in a far-flung locale.

Casting doubt on North Korea's willingness to dismantle its nuclear arsenal and possibly throwing a wrench into talks in Vietnam is a confidential report from the United Nations which claims the communist state is still developing its nuclear and ballistic missiles.

In a speech at Stanford University last week, Mr Biegun said the USA would not agree to lift sanctions until this happens, but he indicated it could provide assistance in other ways, saying: "We did not say we will not do anything until you do everything".

"We can quit complimenting Kim Jong Un", said Kinzinger, an Air Force veteran and member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. The North on the other hand, has been demanding the remove its economic sanctions on the regime.
