Storm Erik SNOW and GALES, warn Met Office

"Across southern parts of the United Kingdom gusts will reach 40mph widely inland, however the strongest winds are expected across Northern Ireland and Scotland, with gusts of 50 to 60mph possible".

The Met Office issued two weather warnings on Friday: for strong winds across Northern Ireland and western Scotland until the evening, and for heavy rain in Scotland that will continue until Saturday afternoon.
