Pakistan says it shot down 2 Indian warplanes

India explained the unauthorised airstrikes from Pakistan's airspace by Islamabad's alleged "inability to act in order to destroy terrorist infrastructure", while the Pakistani Foreign Ministry has slammed the air strike as a violation of its territorial integrity and sovereignty.

But Pakistan says the bombs did not cause any casualties and threatened a response to what they perceived as Indian aggression.

The incident followed three Pakistani combat jets entering the Indian side of Kashmir in retaliation for previous incursion by India.

Both Pakistani and Indian troops are stationed across the region and occasionally exchange fire. But while India said a large number of JeM fighters had been killed, Pakistani officials said the Indian airstrike was a failure and inflicted no casualties.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Wednesday said that he will not attend the upcoming Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meet in Abu Dhabi due to Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's presence at the conclave as the "guest of honour".

Pakistan's army has announced that its Air Force had downed two Indian warplanes in the Pakistani airspace, adding that one Indian pilot had been captured.
