Prasad alleged that the London presser of Shuja is a "Congress-sponsored conspiracy" created to "defame" Indian democracy and its Election Commission.

The EC would also examine what legal action could and should be taken in the matter. "Accordingly you are requested to lodge an FIR and investigate the matter promptly", the letter addressed to the Delhi Police read.

The Election Commission (EC) filed a complaint with Delhi Police against Syed Shuja, an Indian "cyber expert" based in the United States, who claimed that the 2014 Lok Sabha election was "rigged", ANI reported.

An Election Commission statement later stressed that EVMs can not be hacked.

Phil Mickelson stays ahead at Desert Classic after 68 in California
Hadwin had a 66 at La Quinta, the course where he shot 59 two years ago. "I did not feel sharp heading in". He's the first No.1 player to play the tournament since the world rankings began in 1986.

He claimed his team had successfully prevented the rigging of the 2015 Delhi Assembly polls and last year's elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. On his part, Sibal said, "There should be an inquiry in the charges Shuja has made. We did give them a possible solution which they were not able to use: they did not participate in the challenge thrown by the (poll panel) to hack EVMs (in 2018)". While the Congress has demanded probe into these allegations, the BJP has dubbed them a "Congress-sponsored conspiracy" created to "defame" Indian democracy and its Election Commission.

As such, before we get to passing judgments on Shuja's claims - ones that he has failed to provide any proof to back - let us look at what he said about the hacking of EVMs. Although he appeared on screen through Skype, his face was masked.

Shuja said the hacking was done by pinging EVMs at 7 Hertz, a low military-grade frequency, and that one needed "a graphite-based transmitter" to do the hacking.

Shuja, however, claimed that Jio had started setting up infrastructure from 2012 onwards.

Australian Open - Naomi Osaka pulls off stunning comeback to deny Hsieh
Madison Keys has opened play at Rod Laver Arena against sixth-seeded Elina Svitolina on Day 8 at the Australian Open . Svitolina and Osaka have met five times before with the Ukrainian holding a 3-2 lead in their head-to-head rivalry.

The BJP had won 282 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha in the 2014 elections, the first time that a single party had secured a majority since 1984. The system of voting in India has long abandoned ballot boxes and switched to Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), which have done away with physical counting of votes and are deemed to be efficient, time-saving and infallible.

Shuja said he was part of a team which designed the EVMs used in the 2014 elections.

"EC has been wary of becoming a party to this motivated slugfest and stands by empirical facts about the fool-proof nature of ECI EVMs", the commission said. He added that successive chief election commissioners have told him that EVMs can not communicate wirelessly. He also claims the party got the former NDA cabinet member, Gopinath Munde, as well as journalist Gauri Lankesh killed to keep news of the EVM hack escaping to the general public. Mr Naqvi told media in New Delhi that Kapil Sibal did not go there accidentally but he was sent by Congress President Rahul Gandhi.
