"It appears you are not busy today or any day, until Tuesday when you will return from your 4 day vacation", posted the group on social media last Thursday -one day before the end of the longest government shutdown in American history. "We would like to show you around!" the letter, published on Facebook, reads. "I just felt it was really important that our leaders come here and see what's happening firsthand. It's important for them to meet with the people that are here on a daily basis", Jill Demanski said. "We want them to come here and make an informed decision and to see what's really going on".

Demanski added that it's not just Trump advocating for a border wall, and that Border Patrol agents have asked for such a barrier for years.

But Demanski noted that "it is not President Trump that is necessarily asking for the wall".

She added the partial shutdown was very hard for the families of Border Patrol agents, who hadn't received a paycheck during the partial shutdown, and, at times, it felt like nobody cared about their community.

Met Éireann forecasts snowfall and a 'bitterly cold' week ahead
England can expect temperatures as low as -6C this week and Scotland is forecast to suffer lows colder than -14C. Top temperatures will be around 3 to 7 degrees and fresh west to northwest winds will ease.

"We finally have a president that has come here and seen first-hand the need for it and has had our back", Demanski continued. "I don't know of many presidents that really have gone through the turmoil that he's gone through to try and help us try to get this".

During a "Fox & Friends" interview Monday, Demanski and her friend Renea Perez - another Border Patrol wife - insisted that a wall or barrier is necessary for the sake of agents' safety and their ability to perform their duties.

While the border wall funding fight will continue, the temporary spending measures did kick in $1.3 billion for security measures at the border that don't have to do with the border wall Trump proposes.

"After 36 days of spirited debate and dialogue, I have seen and heard from enough Democrats and Republicans that they are willing to put partisanship aside, I think", Trump said.

Entry-level Border Patrol agents are paid $52,000 a year, the newspaper reported. "It will allow them to do their job more efficiently and give them more time".

Demanski supported Perez, also saying that one or two agents can sometimes face hundreds of migrants, which has become especially common with the emergence of migrant caravans.

"It gets tough. The bills don't stop".

While Trump looked like he was going to refuse any offer without border wall money, once Congress was poised to pass a clean bill, he decided it was best to reopen the government until February 15 in the meantime and stop the longest-ever government shutdown.
