Luka Modric vowed to shoot more often after scoring a sensational opening goal to set up Real Madrid's victory over Al Ain in the Club World Cup final.

Madrid's home-grown midfielder Marcos Llorente doubled the European champions lead on the hour-mark with a superbly struck volley from outside the area.

"Last year we have the example of Al Jazira, against who Real had 10 chances to score and didn't, then Al Jazira took their one chance and Real struggled to get back into it".

Despite the loss, Al Ain are certainly taking so much positives in this clash, and here are three of the biggest takeaways for the club following their Club World Cup journey. The game pits the heavily favored giant of Spanish soccer against the champion of UAE's Arabian Gulf League (and the Club World Cup's "home" team) for the right to crown itself king of the world.

Judge rejects Harvey Weinstein’s request to dismiss sexual assault case
Harvey Weinstein is expected to face trial "fairly soon " after a judge refused to dismiss the sexual assault case against him. Weinstein's lawyers say the case has devolved into chaos and was "irreparably tainted" by DiGaudio's alleged interference.

"A dream year, really". The local club from the United Arab Emirates upset South American champion River Plate in the semifinals on penalties.

The game was all over as a contest in the 79th minute when Ramos climbed above the Al Ain defence to power a trademark header into the net from Modric's corner.

Al Ain should have taken the lead when Marcelo's mistake let in Hussein El Shahat but captain Ramos made a miraculous goal-line clearance to deny the winger, then Madrid nudged in front.

Modric put Madrid in charge a minute later when he curled an unstoppable left-footed shot around a defender and diving goalie Khalid Eisa. Dani Carvajal teed up Lucas Vazquez but his shot flew just wide of the far post.

Despite the latest war of words, a second summit between Mr Trump and Mr Kim is expected to be held next year. The leader urged his party to fulfil its obligations and duties as Kim Jong-il's "revolutionary soldiers".

It was also his first goal in a final for Madrid and the Croatia worldwide suggested he might go for goal on a more regular basis after his unerring 25-yard finish.

Earlier, River beat Kashima Antlers 4-0 for third place.

"They're here after working very hard and winning many trophies", said Real coach Santiago Solari.
