"A 70-year-old Coolum man was arrested by detectives from the Queensland Police Service's Homicide Squad in the presence of Strike Force Scriven investigators at Biggera Waters, on the Gold Coast, in Queensland", NSW police said.

Speaking on the arrest, Detective Chief Inspector Chris Olen said: "A 70-year-old man has been arrested this morning shortly before 8 o'clock in relation to the murder of Lyn Dawson".

The case has been brought back to light following the hugely successful crime podcast The Teacher's Pet, produced by The Australian.

A podcast about the disappearance of a young mother in Sydney 36 years ago has led to the arrest of her husband after new witnesses came forward with fresh evidence about the case.

"I thank the public and the media for the partnership in solving this matter", said New South Wales Police Commissioner Mick Fuller.

Describing it as a "voluminous" evidence brief, Fuller said the additional evidence - including two discovered through podcast - had "helped us tie pieces of the puzzle together".

Police looking for couple after engagement ring recovered from utility grate
NYPD said one of its officers saw the scene unfold, rescued the ring, cleaned it up and would like to return it to the couple. Police posted more photos of the couple on Sunday before announcing about an hour later that they finally found the duo.

Police have spoken to Lyn Dawson's family this morning, who are "relieved".

The former school teacher appeared in Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday where his application for bail was refused.

The commander of the NSW homicide squad, Detective Superintendent Scott Cook, said he was "confident" in the case.

Dawson has always maintained his innocence, and claimed his wife had run away to live with a religious cult in remote area of NSW. Inquests previously recommended murder charges against a known suspect, though prosecutors decided there was insufficient evidence.

She was 33 years old.

Commissioner Fuller said police have not given up on finding her remains.

Jose Mourinho refuses question from Manchester United in-house TV station
United face Arsenal sitting seventh in the table, 16 points behind leaders Manchester City and eight adrift of the top four. Mourinho also addressed recent reports that he had called midfielder Pogba "a virus" in front of the rest of the team.

"NSW police will seek an extradition".

In 2015, NSW homicide detectives established Strike Force Scriven to reinvestigate the circumstances surrounding Mrs Dawson's disappearance and suspected murder.

"It's my understanding that there were two additional statements that were a by-product of the media and the work that the media has done".

In a statement, the Dawson family said it was disappointed.

A forensic search of the home the Dawsons once shared in Bayview was undertaken.

"We have no doubt whatsoever that Chris will be found not guilty as he is innocent".

Russian border guards fired on three Ukrainian navy vessels in the Black Sea near the Russia-occupied Crimea on November 25. The INF brief was issued by ACA Executive Director Daryl Kimball and Disarmament Director Kingston Reif.

"Its taken a long haul but its going to be a very good Christmas for our side of the family knowing that we've finally got somewhere and we're going to find out what actually happened through the court system", he told the program.
