Luka Modric 'honoured' after winning men's 2018 Ballon d'Or

Real Madrid's Croatia midfielder Luka Modric was named victor of the 2018 Ballon d'Or on Monday, December 3, breaking Cristiano Ronaldo's and Lionel Messi's decade-long hold on the prestigious award.

The 33-year-old Modric - who was also named FIFA's Best Men's Player this year - helped Croatia to the World Cup final in Russian Federation having guided Madrid to a third successive Champions League crown.

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar, the world's most expensive player, dropped to 12th having been voted third best in last year's poll.
