European Council President Donald Tusk said the EU executive, the European Commission, informed him it has agreed on the political declaration on the future ties with Britain.

Theresa May has declared that final agreement on Brexit is "within our grasp" following a breakthrough agreement on future relations between the United Kingdom and EU.

Spain does not have the power to veto Brexit, but the withdrawal treaty can not be finalised without being signed-off by the remaining 27 member states of the EU.

Here we look at two examples of misleading claims about the recent withdrawal agreement-specifically around the different purposes of the withdrawal agreement and the future trade agreement.

Officials are now racing to agree details of an accompanying outline statement on the future trading and security relationship for after Britain leaves the EU's single market and customs union. After that date, negotiations will start expanding on that structure.

"I have just sent to EU27 a draft Political Declaration on the Future Relationship between European Union and UK", Tusk, who represents the 27 remaining European Union member countries, tweeted.

The draft declaration was agreed in principle on Thursday morning, after negotiators worked through the night on new directions issued by May and European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker when they met in the Belgian capital on Wednesday evening.

'Britain's withdrawal is shaping up to be more hard than a fictitious withdrawal of another member country, ' she said, because of the complexity of regulating the border between Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Opposition Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn confirmed his party would not back it, saying: "This is the blindfold Brexit we all feared, a leap in the dark".

The prime minister told MPs the future relationship document is a good deal for Britain, ending free movement once and for all and introducing skills-based immigration.

"We have come a long way, but it will certainly still require a lot of discussion, especially within Britain", she added.

"The negotiations are now at a critical moment, and all our efforts must be focused on working with our European partners to bring this process to a final conclusion", May said.

Jeremy Corbyn again confirmed he meant to order his MPs to vote against the deal and dismissed the political declaration as "waffle".

She said: "Even Dominic Raab, the guy who negotiated this half-baked deal admits it isn't as good as the one we've already got - inside the EU".
