Indian flight turns back after 30 passengers report sick

In a statement, Jet Airways expressed regret and said its cockpit crew had been "taken off scheduled duties pending investigations".

Subsequently, oxygen masks were deployed for the passengers on board.

One passenger Satish Nair‏ said he suffered a nose bleed but complained that "passenger safety (was) completely ignored".

This fact initiated the investigation, at the end of which it was chose to keep the crew from working.

The crew has been taken off duty and Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has started an investigation into the incident.

A day after a Jet Airways flight made an emergency landing after the passengers on board fell sick, the crew has been booked for attempt to murder.

"During climb, the crew forgot to select bleed switch due to which cabin pressurisation could not be maintained".

Pilots operating a Jet Airways India flight on Thursday forgot to turn on a switch that maintains optimal pressure in the cabin during ascent, causing injuries to some passengers.

"Out of 166 passengers on board, 30 passengers are affected. some have nose bleeding, a few have ear bleeding and some are complaining of headache", he added.

"All of them had suffered from barotrauma, which are injuries caused by the difference in air pressure".

Alongside, Indian Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu ordered an investigation of the entire incident and has demanded a report about the same in a month's time.

And in January, the BBC reported, the airline "grounded two pilots following reports of a fight inside the cockpit of a flight from London to Mumbai". The airline however said that complimentary beverages, including tea and coffee, will be continued for all passengers.
