Much-needed food and medical supplies, including high-calorie gels and paracetamol, reached them Tuesday as rescuers prepared for a prolonged extraction operation, with several chambers still submerged.

One rescuer asks: "How many of you?".

"These are challenging conditions and there's a lot of consideration for safety as well as, the environment outside is contributing to the environment inside", said U.S. Air Force Capt. Jessica Tait, part of a 30-member U.S. military team assisting in the search, referring to the rain that has been flooding the cave.

Divers took advantage of a brief window of good weather on Monday to edge further into the cave, with the water levels dropping slowly but steadily every hour thanks to round-the-clock pumping.

Early Tuesday, the Thai navy released a video that showed the boys sitting on a dry area inside the cave.

They ask how long they have been underground and whether they can leave now.

In a video, posted on the Thai Navy SEAL Facebook page, one of the boys shouts to the rescuers: "we are hungry, shall we go outside?"

One boy replies: "Oh".

Merkel Accepts Migrant Deal Under Threat of Conservative Allies
As the CDU and CSU parties hunkered down in Berlin and Munich, leaders on both sides sought to clarify what was a stake. Ahead of a hard Bavarian state election in October, the CSU is determined to show that it is tough on migration.

Their families say they were familiar with the cave, as it was not their first visit. They are also keen to get some food.

Aside from bicycles and soccer boots left near the cave's entrance, and some handprints seen on the walls, the searchers have found no trace of the boys, aged between 11 and 16, or their 25-year-old assistant coach.

Military divers searched the cave, which was complicated by increasing rain and murky waters. "We would have to drill in deeper to get to the source, but at least we found it". Furthermore, mud continues to impede access to divers, who had been tasked with locating and extracting the team.

"Getting back from this area in the caves and back to the mouth of the caves is going to be very, very tricky indeed, because the divers have only managed to reach the Pattaya Beach area because they are skilled".

Divers had to navigate a series of sharp, narrow bends in near-darkness.

How did they find them?

How can they get out?

We know all of the group are "safe" with "signs of life" but now the massive global rescue effort has turned its attention to the next challenge - getting the group out of the cave.

They were discovered by two British divers on a ledge in a cavern after a marathon search operation in the Tham Luang caves in Chiang Rai.

If the children are to be brought out before then, they will have to learn basic diving skills.

Such storms could raise water levels in the cave again and complicate the supply missions or any potential extrication, if one was needed. He said the primary decision is whether to try to evacuate the boys and their coach or to supply them in place.

"It's still tough as the water stream is quite strong", he said.

But hopes of finding the boys alive had started to fade.

The 12 boys are all members of a local football team and their coach is known to have taken them on occasional excursions and field trips.

Likely the fastest but most unsafe way to extract everyone would be having them dive out in the company of an experienced diving team.

"I want him to be physically and mentally fit", she said.
