A fast-growing wildfire that broke out over the weekend in Northern California, fueled by parched lands and high winds, prompted evacuations on Sunday and sent ash spewing over a wide area of the region, officials said. The wildfire remains at 15 percent contained.

More than 2,100 fire fighters have worked to control the blaze, which has threatened at least 116 structures and has crossed into Napa County.

The fire started Saturday June 23 and has burned more than 13,000 acres, according to CalFire.

The County Fire, which was sparked Saturday afternoon, is at 3 percent containment and has burned 44,500 acres as of 3:10 p.m. Monday, according to Cal Fire. They also say two structure task forces from central OR helped tremendously to protect homes while wildland crews focused on fighting the fire.

But that change is not likely to come until later tonight, said Anthony Brown, a firefighter and spokesman for Cal Fire.
